Job Overview
Role: Nationwide Field Services Technician
Engagement Type: Independent Contractor
Work Structure: Contract-to-Contract
Location: Nationwide (United States)
Technicians are dispatched to customer locations to complete approved work orders sourced through Solar Startβs enterprise service channels.
β οΈ This is not an employment role. Contractors are engaged per project based on availability, skill set, geographic coverage, and client requirements.
Scope of On-Site Work
Assignments may include (but are not limited to):
Desktop & laptop installation, replacement, and troubleshooting
Server and network hardware installation
Data center support & low-voltage cabling (CAT5e / CAT6)
CCTV, alarm, and access control system installations
Digital signage & video wall installations
Kiosk installation, servicing, and merchandising
Site surveys (Starlink, AV, IT infrastructure)
Break/fix and warranty service calls
Printer and peripheral repair
General technical installation tasks

Qualifications
Required:
Proven experience as a Field Service Technician or similar role
Hands-on experience with IT hardware, AV, or low-voltage systems
Ability to work independently on customer sites
Own tools, reliable transportation, and smartphone
Strong communication skills and dependability
Ability to accept work on a per-project basis
Comfortable working under defined scopes and deadlines
Preferred (Not Mandatory):
CCTV, AV, low-voltage, or IT certifications
Enterprise field service experience
OSHA 10/30 or other safety training
Key Responsibilities
Travel to customer sites to execute approved work orders
Perform tasks according to provided scopes of work
Use personal tools and equipment unless otherwise specified
Communicate job status and progress updates
Upload required photos, documentation, and close-out reports
Comply with site safety, security, and professionalism standards
